A LANEXA Alvin Douglas Slater 87, of Route 1, Box 33, died Friday at home after a long illness. A lifelong James City County resident, he was a former saw mill operator and farmer and was instrumental in the beginning of the Farmers' Market, Duke of Gloucester Street, Williamsburg. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Elsie Stewart Slater; three daughters, Mrs. Edward Tzula of Toano, Mrs.

Cynthia B. Laband of Santa Barbara, and Mrs. Richard P. Millis of Lanexa: two sons, Charles E. Slater of Lanexa and Alvin D.

Slater Jr. of Toano; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Liberty Baptist Church, Lanexa, by the Rev. Francis Bush.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight in Bucktrout Funeral Home, Williamsburg. Mrs. Wingfield STORMONT Mrs. Lucy Fleet Goldman Wingfield, 74, of Stormont, died Wednesday in a Tappahannock hospital after a long illness.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Doris Robinson, Mrs. Lois Owens and Mrs. Bertha Kimble of Philadelphia, and Mrs. Lena Kimble of Stormont; two sons, Edgar Payton Wingfield of Philadelphia and Roosevelt Wingfield of Remlik; two sisters, Mrs.

Mary Lockley of Locust Hill and Mrs. Martha Mansfield of Wake; and a brother, Quinton Goldman of Baltimore. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Calvary Baptist Church, Christchurch, by the Rev. Calvin Green.

Braxton 79, of Stevensville, died Tuesday in a Tappahannock hospital after a long illness. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Martha A. Braxton; a son, Albert Braxton Jr. of Linden, N.J.; a brother, Robert Minters Braxton of Stevensville; and six grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Zion Baptist Church, Cumnor, by the Rev. Henry C. Garrard. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Born in Sebrell, she was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and was formerly employed with Brentwood Pharmacy and as a Newport News school bus driver. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Gloria May August, with whom she made her home; four sons, James L. and Michael Shelton Dixon, both of Newport News, Oscar Harold Dixon of Georgia and W. Wayne Dixon of Dallas; a brother, Will Powers of Fort Lauderdale, 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Jennell Funeral Home is in charge. Doneson Sr. GRAFTON Walter J. Doneson 65, of 180 Showalter Road, died Thursday in Riverside Hospital after: long illness. He retired from NASA after 30 years service and had also worked in Gibson's Department Store, Grafton, for several years.

He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Yorktown, and the Holy Name Society, and was past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Miante Doneson; a daughter, Mrs.

G.T. Jones Sr. T. Jones 38 W. County Hampton, died Thursday in Hampton General Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Hampton, he had been a self-employed barber for 30 years. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Marian F. Jones; four sons, Edgar and Reginald Jones, both of Hampton, George T. Jones Jr.
